[Verse 1]
G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
Oh, I was born with the name Geraldine
     G CM7 G CM7 G CM7
With hair coal black as a raven
  G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
I traveled my life without a care
        G D6 G CM7 G
Ah, but all my love I was savin'

[Verse 2]
        G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
Oh, the winds blew high and the trees did sway
    G CM7 G CM7 G CM7
Not much from life was I askin'
     G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
Till I met someone to give all my love
       G D6 G CM7 G
All my love, so long and lastin'

[Verse 3]
    G CM7 D6 G CM7 G
Oh, good were the parts we played in our game
      G CM7 G CM7 G CM7
And a long ways off was tomorrow
       G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
But my love was a rambler and restless as the sea
    G D6 G CM7 G
And in the tide came sorrow

[Verse 4]
      G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
Oh, a child of the night is goin' to be born
  G CM7 G CM7 G CM7
I can't explain my confusion
   G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
Is my love thinkin' to marry me at all
          G D6 G CM7 G
Or of the freedom he thinks he'll be losin'?

[Verse 5]
  G D6 G CM7 G CM7
I sit with my friends in the gay crowded room
   G CM7 G CM7 G CM7
My friends they're smokin' and a-talkin'
       G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
But it all seems so empty, my love is not there
        G D6 G CM7 G
So I'll go into the streets a-walkin'

[Verse 6]
   G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
My baby is a-growin' as a-growin' it must
   G CM7 G CM7 G CM7
If I were to lose it, it would grieve me
   G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
My love is so helpless and I'm wonderin' what to do
G D6 G CM7 G CM7
Oh, how I yearn to help him

[Verse 7]
    G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
Oh, we could go to the land of your choice
          G CM7 G CM7 G CM7
Where the false shame won't come knockin' at our door
       G CM7 D6 G CM7 G CM7
I've a feelin' in my heart and it's crushin' all my hopes

I think I'm gonna be hurt some more

I think Cmaj7 [tab]032000[/tab] sounds better instead of C/G but, I haven't played it along with the song.
