Capo should be on the 5th fret, actually.

Watch the bass lines... Elton likes to walk his bass lines up and down like this (C to B to A):
------------------ C --- G/B ----------------- Am
He calls his child Jesus, `Cause he likes the name
And this (F to E to D to C):
----------------------------------- F
He was born a pauper to a pawn on a Christmas day
-------- C/E --------------- Dm7 ----------------------- C
When the New York Times said God is dead and the war's begun

I capo this on the 3rd fret and play in G. The chord shape allows a fingerpicking style that flows like the piano part. When I play the D I play the F# on the 6th string and I “feel” it the way I do when I hear the piano part.
I like what this arrangement has offered me for guidance.
