I think it starts with a Dm not a Cm.

Wrong. Disregarding the key, the pattern is i--IV--i--IV--i--V--IV--i. In Dm, that's Dm--G--Dm--G--Dm--A--G--Dm

I agree with dw above, that Cm is wayyy off. The Dm sounds right.
