I got this by watching JR on a 1966 video. What I realized was he was double picking on the
G string instead of simply alternating between G and e like most tabs show. I also saw he
wasn't hitting all the notes you heard but he was sliding to them instead. Here's what I came
up with:

So pick all the notes except if you are sliding to the note. There may also be some attacking
while sliding over the fret but I think this is about as close as it gets. Watch the 1966 video
on YouTube and you'll see how close this is.
