[Verse One]
G Am
Dust cloud coming off an old dirt road
D7 G
That leads up here to this little graveyard
G Am
Seven lights in a perfect row
D7 G
Under each light is a police car
G Am
Just because you say it doesn't make it true
D7 G
You can say that I'm guilty, man i just don't care
G Am
You can burn my body black
D7 G
Just don't make me go back to Jackson Square
[Interlude]
G Am D7 G
G Am D7 G
[Verse Two]
G Am
I met you on Decatur street
D7 G
With your little bare feet and your violin
G Am
I was walking by with my guitar in my hand
D7 G
You smiled at me and I jumped right in
G Am
Before i knew it you were all I knew
D7 G
Every moment together was an answered prayer
G Am
After a while we had some money saved up
D7 G
And we rented a room over Jackson Square
[Interlude]
G Am D7 G
G Am D7 G
[Verse Three]
G Am
But one day everything changed
D7 G
Your eyes got strange you didn't seem yourself
G Am
You go to tell a story and you start out fine
D7 G
Halfway through it you'd be somewhere else
G Am
And I started having the strangest dream
D7 G
I held a string and looked up in the air
G Am
And you were glowing with the strangest light
D7 G
Drifting out of sight over Jackson square
[Interlude]
G Am D7 G
G Am D7 G
[Verse Four]
G Am
Life is something that you can't control
D7 G
When you try to hold on to it, it makes you let go
G Am
Things are not like they were before
D7 G
I can hear her crying through the bathroom door
G Am
She says she hears spirits all around the room
D7 G
And they're telling her things that make her feel scared
G Am
I have no idea what to do
D7 G
Before were in over our heads on Jackson Square
[Solo]
G Am D7 G
G Am D7 G
G Am D7 G
G Am D7 G
[Verse Five]
G Am
I woke up with the weight on my chest
D7 G
People were screaming on the street below
G Am
I reached for you, I was alone in the bed
D7 G
The wind was blowing through an open window
G Am
And suddenly I was very old
D7 G
And a little bold, absolutely nowhere
G Am
Staring at the side of the universe
D7 G
And your tiny body down on Jackson Square
G Am
And don't tell me that there ain't no end
D7 G
There damn well is and it waits in the wings
G Am
I see you kneeling there at center stage
D7 G
In your tiny cage made of angel wings
G Am
Well I'm here every night
D7 G
Loading my gun and trying not to go there
G Am
Anyone who says that life is clear
D7 G
Has never seen a mirror or been to Jackson Square
[Outro]
G Am D7 G
Yeah Yeah
G Am D7 G
Yeah Oh
G Am D7 G
G Am D7 G
[Outro Fill]

To play in the same key as the recording with these open chords I think you have to tune down 1/2 step. Sounds much better than barring everything though
