I tried it your way, and I think my way is better, maybe you will try it. Drop your low E string to D, then tune down a whole step down to Drop C and try it. You will be amazed how good it sounds with that low open end, and it's too easy this way. Plus it's right.

it still sounds ok if you don't tune it down a half-step. it just sounds BETTER if you do
