Song: The girl from Ipanema
Artist: Astrud Gilberto
Music: Antonio Carlos Jobim
English lyrics: Norman Gimbel

Tabbed by DJ 1st Aug 2016

FINE TUNING:
The original track is pitched a little flat, maybe
the backing tracks were slowed down a fraction to
alter the tempo. To practise along with the recorded
pitch use a chromatic tuner and detune all strings
down approx. -10 cents below standard pitch

CAPO: 1st fret
(Will then sound in the recorded approx. key of B)

[Intro]
Cmaj7
Dum- dum- dum! Brring, boom-boom, brrring, boom-boom!

[Verse 1]
Cmaj7
Tall and tanned, and young and lovely,
    D7
The girl from Ipanema goes walking,
    Dm7
And when she passes,
     Db7b5 Cmaj7
Each one she passes goes ...'Ahhh!'

[Verse 2]
Cmaj7
When she walks she's like a samba,
     D7
That swings so cool, and sways so gently,
     Dm7
That when she passes,
     Db7b5 Cmaj7
Each one she passes goes ...'Ahhh!'

[Verse 3]
Dbmaj7 Gb9
Oh-----, but he watches so sadly,
Db7sus2 A13
How can he tell her he loves her?
D7sus2 Bb7
Yes----, he would give his heart gladly,
         Em7 A7b9
But each day, when she walks to the sea,
    Dm7 G7b5
She looks straight ahead, not at he

Quite a few versions available on UG for this classic, particularly for octopuses, so this version is much appreciated. Since I can't quite play like Jobim just yet, this version - with a little embellishment finger-style - at least entertains me! Thank you for your contribution, well done!
