In actuality the song was performed in F not C by the Five Satins-(F - Dm - Bb -C7) My group performed it hundreds of times to mimic the original Freddie Parris version. This may have been to accommodate the Bb saxophone used, (which would have been played in G. However, as Adrialcooston noted the tape speed was slightly increased either by technical problems of those earlier years or intentionally to increase that falsetto voice. We had to play it in F# to replicate it exactly, much to the chagrin of our keyboard player.

Well actually the song is in the right key that the Louis put it in, however, the song recording was sped up slightly resulting in a half step change which was VERY common in Motown and R&B music. If you capo the first fret it will sound nearly perfect if your guitar is perfectly in tune.

This tab also works for the Boyz 2 Men version of the song. Capo on the 4th to match it with the B2M CD version. Thanks for the tab!
