The Menzingers - Lookers
This is the newly released Menzingers song, I really love it so Ill try to tab it out. Most of the song is
powerchords, so Ill just write up a chord chart and tab out some of the riffs below. These lyrics are pretty
iffy, I'll edit them when the lyrics get released, this is a guess for now as a placeholder, sorry.
*EDIT: updated the lyrics from their instagram post
Tuning: Half-step down
Dsus2
Lost in a picture frame the way our bodies used to behave
Dsus2/B
When you smiled in the moment
(Dsus2/B) G6
Before they permanently froze
(G6) D
But that was the old me and you when we were both lookers
D
Lost in a picture frame the way my body used to behave
Bm
The way I smiled in the moment
(Bm) A G
before they permanently froze
(G)
But that was the old me
(G) D
I was such a looker in the old days
D
You little Kerouac, always running like Dean and Sal
Bm
Always waiting on a freight train,
(Bm) A G
Always looking for a story to tell,
(G)
but that was the old you
(G) D
You were such a looker in the old days
(D)
Yeah we were both lookers
Bm A
Sha la la la jersey girls
D G
are always total heart breakers
Bm A
Julie from the Wonder Bar
D G
I still wonder where you are
(G)
Cause I know the old you and you know the old me
D
I was certain that Id find her in the back of the diner
Bm
In a crowd full of nicotine
(Bm) A G
In a teenage memory that I hold to eternity
(G) D
Cause the future aint coming for it
(D)
Yeah we were both lookers
Bm A
Sha la la la jersey girls
D G
are always total heart breakers
Bm A
Julie from the Wonder Bar
D G
I still wonder where you are
Bm A
Sha la la la jersey girls
D G
are always total heart breakers
Bm A
Julie from the Wonder Bar
D G
I still wonder where you are
(G)
Cause I know the old you and you know the old me when we were both lookers
Bm G
In a 5 x 8 black and white on the night stand of my mind

From a time I hardly recognize

If you're looking to add a bit of the lead in the chorus, or if you're playing this on your acoustic and want to incorporate the lead while using the open chord shapes, it's not too difficult:
I'm not too good at tab notation but let's see if this works:
eb|--5-2-2-2------------------|
Bb|--3-3-5-3------------------|
Gb|--2-2-2-2------------------|
Db|-------------------2-4-2-0-|
Ab|---------------------------|
Eb|---------------------------
would be the riff part following the intro; you can mess with the strumming and the variations on the D with those additional high G# and D# notes (that's relative to the half step down, if you're just playing in standard with open chords its a high A and and E).
As for the chorus, I really like the fullness of the open chords and I think it sounds pretty cool to do a descending pattern that looks something like this:
eb|-------5-3--0--------------|
Bb|-5--2--3-3--3--------------|
Gb|-4--2--2-2--0--------------|
Db|-4--2--0-0--0--------------|
Ab|-2--0-------x--------------|
Eb|------------3--------------
Basically, play the Bm and A as advertised in the original tab. Then instead of just strumming a normal D play the variation with the high A before moving into a Dsus4, ending on a G6 instead of a normal G. It gives it that this nice little extra twist that fits in with the vocal melody, though the notes probably aren't like what's actually played.
But the tab is great.

It reminds me of a better time with a girl I use to know. Thanks for putting these out there. It'll help get me by
