2nd line of the chorus instead of C try a D/F# (key of G) and a G/B preceding the C in line 4 of the chorus. I love her high notes

I believe that D, the first chord in the key change, should be an E. Try singing it both ways, and you might find the E sets you up better for the new key, vocally-speaking.
