*you can play any C here; I have not the competence to figure out what dallas or travis
is actually doing, but to imitate it I go straight from 1st position Am to a partial C
at the 8th position (see below), and noodle around on that and it sounds good enough.
where the song shifts, around the mandolin break, you abbreviate that progression 2nd
time around and go right to G. the mandolin break [in brackets] can be skipped if no mandolin
is present, but it helps shift into the walkdown patterns that I’m indicating with the
G/F#--which is a walkdown from G to Em. I can only approximate those; play along with
the song to get the timing. I love this band and this is one of their great songs.
thanks to my friend jp who gave me the chords to start with.

Great tab! Was waiting for someone to tab this for awhile, I couldn't figure it out. Two small edits: For the C* after the chorus, he just alternates with C7s, or whatever it is (C, and then C without the 1st fret of the B string, and then add a 7th on the 3rd fret of the B string). Then there's the second guitar of course, which is beyond me. For the last part (the closing bridge?) one part of it should be: Em G C You can’t serve two masters G No matter the cause G/F# Em We all thought we were someone Excellent work.

It wouldn't let me delete my previous un-formated comment...

E----------------------------------------------------------| B--------8-8-8----------7-7-7------8-8-8----10-10-10-8-----| G--------9-9-9----------9-9-9------9-9-9-----9--9--9-9-----| D----10-----------10-----------10--------------------------| A----10-----------10-----------10--------------------------| E----8----8-8-8----8-----8-8-8--8---8-8-8------8-8--8------| This (above) isn't accurate as written, but I wanted to give a little idea of how I play the bridge bit. Basically having my thump anchored on the C on the E string and Travis picking. You kind of incorporate both guitar parts in this way. Not 100% but a fun little fill to play.
