Just had a quick peek at the video lesson UG posted here and it's a good example of why I disagree with them posting video lessons on a contributor's page without asking permission. Yeah, Eugeney, it's YOUR site but I believe you built it in order for musicians and teachers to share accurate information on how to play. Unfortunately for learning musicians and to the dismay of educated and experienced contributors, UG is a minefield of social media pros who have gamed your new systems and only APPEAR to be the experts they so desperately wish to be but without the time and effort that goes into real expertise. I'm not talking about the woman in the video. She's sharing an interpretation of the song that works, just not as well as the way Train plays the guitar parts. I'm talking about the mods and TPA queue workers who make edits to and rejections of some of the better work of top contributors, people who ARE skilled, in complete disrespect and utter disregard for facts, knowledge and experience. Your UG IQ thingy has given the false appearance of expertise and has undermined true expertise. I don't have answers or a complete path forward to suggest but you were on the right track with the original Official Contributor's Group in treating your top contributors as the experts no matter how smooth some of those who came after seemed to be. The proof is in the contributions themselves. Not the quantity but the QUALITY. IF you and the UG team can find A TRUE way to measure that instead of the flawed rating system there would be little argument. Facts are not democratic. The masses don't get to choose a favored version of reality, they need experts; scientists, doctors and yes, educated/experienced musicians to present good, accurate information. These poor learning musicians have to wade through a lot of bad information and those of us wanting to help them have to fight off the incompetent mods and contributors. It's pretty discouraging.
