The original version was by "The Champs" in 1958.
They recorded it in the saxophone-friendly key of
F Myxolydian.

Note: the recording doesn't have guitar chording for
the last bit of the bridge (the Gm part), just the
bass, drums & sax, but you can play as above and you
can play a full 8th fret C major barre chord at the
end for punctuation.

Then go back to the F & Eb chord pattern until the
next bridge.

After the last bridge end on the F & Eb chord pattern
again but at the last do a quick F Eb F change,
ending on the F chord.

Tequila – CHAMPS
How to play

Interesting to play the bridge as "E#dim7" / Em7 / C. I don't hear it that way at all. I hear the progression as a regular old I - IV - I - II7 - V7, which in this case means the song goes F / Eb, then the bridge goes Bb7 to F, then at the climax goes G to C7. I guess Em7 and G are nearly the same chord, but still, Gm7 doesn't sound right to me. So swap your "E#dim7" with a Bb7, swap the Em7 for a G. And as a nice bonus its way easier to play. And ha on calling that a "E#dim7" by the way.

Also, some versions of this song by The Champs are slightly out of pitch. They sound a little flat. There is a version mastered in proper pitch, though.
