[Vesre]
        Eb Gm
In the year of 1831
  Eb Bb F
I sailed towards the setting sun
         Eb Bb F
Bringing food and fuel and guns for the Hudson Bay Company
     Cm Gm
From Vancouver to the northwest shore
     Eb Bb F
Like I’d done these 15 years or more
Eb Gm
Little did I know what lay in store
       F
On the icy Beauford Sea
Cm Gm
Trading cargo for the finest furs
Eb Bb F
Trapped by Innuit and voyagers

[Verse]
       Eb Gm
It was early winter came that year
        Eb Bb F
Through closing pack ice I did steer
       Eb Gm
Just a narrow patch of sea lay clear
    F
Now I was homeward bound
    Cm Gm
But as I crossed the Beauford Sea
    Eb Bb F
The pack ice it closed in on me
    Eb Gm
It was a fearful guarantee
     F
That I’d be run aground
   Cm Gm
To barrow then the crew did go
   Eb Bb F
To shelter from the wind and snow

[Chorus]
Bb Eb F
Locked in ice half a hundred years

Bb Eb F
Drifting with the flow

Eb Gm F
Where the ice goes, I go

[vesre]
    Eb Gm
It seemed that fortune looked my way
    Eb Bb F
For early on the following day
    Eb Gm
The ice broke up and moved away
        F
And the crew came back aboard
    Cm Gm
But 2 miles from Alaska's shore
    Eb Bb F
The pack ice it blows in once more
        Eb Gm
Cut the skyline where I’d sailed before
       F
Like a white and deadly sword
    Cm Gm
The captain and the 30 crew
       Eb Bb F
To the safety of the shore withdrew

[Chorus]
          Bb Eb F
But I was locked in ice half a hundred years
Bb Eb F
Drifting with the flow
Eb Gm F
Where the ice goes, I go

[Verse]
Eb Gm
So without a crew I drifted slow
      Eb Bb F
Stuck fast within the pack ice flow
       Eb Gm F
Till a group of hunting Innuit found me floating just offshore
Cm Gm
2 years later I was seen again
        Eb Bb F
Heading northward through the snow and rain
        Eb Gm
The salvage men they tried to stake their claim
        F
But the ice made them withdraw
       Cm Gm
It was in the year of 69
      Eb Bb F
I was sighted for the final time

I’m a little grey ship on the Beauford Sea

Doomed to travel endlessly

Great tab. IMO sounds best in d standard with this tab transposed up twice. Emphasis on top four strings of each chord, and with the Dm over A (Dm/A).
